So I've opened the non working Bandai Super Missilevader and found that the battery compartment and secondary circuit had disintigrated (the one with the start switch and the fire/left/right buttons) ...

Right! Have scouted around this website and found something VERY similar in the 'Entex Space Invader' - however the 'thing' I had was powered by 1 single 9V battery.
