So, the LCD handheld version of Contra is known simply as "C" in North America and parts of Europe; meanwhile, it has the full "Contra" title, albeit in the Japanese Kanji, for certain other parts of Europe and of course, Japan.
Check out this print advert for some Konami LCD games, including Contra. It's kind of interesting, because they refer to it as Gryzor! For some context, Gryzor is the name change of Contra to the arcade version, as well as some home computer conversions of that arcade version, in Europe. Most know of the Probotector renaming and other changes to the home console games.

It's interesting that they actually referred to it by the Gryzor title.
Also, notice the artwork on this LCD game? On both the "C" and Japanese Contra versions; they simply took the cover artwork by Bob Wakelin where the name Gryzor is still present in traces on the handheld! You can see a bit of the fiery Z near the middle.
This is probably just a complete dream, but it would be extremely amazing if an astronomically rare, limited variant of this handheld was made where the title Gryzor is on the artwork (instead of "C" or Contra). |
