Is it because it is really fun to play or is it simply sought after because it's rare? Inquiring minds want to know. Laughing

Just becuase it's rare (and is titled after a real arcade pinball machine).

As for the game play, it's exactly the same as Raise the Devil pinball which can be found very cheap, so that's definitely not it.

I think only two of us have this game (my loose one and Dan's boxed one...) Anyone else here have it? So it's definitely rare. I've had an automatic Ebay search going since Dan got his (around 2002 sometime?), and it's only come up once in June of 2003 (and that's the one I have). Paid $130 for it too... (and that's a loose one with no battery cover.)

No kidding Rik, $130.00 isnt too bad for a decent loose version. I wonder how much Dan paid for his boxed version. Any idea?

Wasn't it one of the very first, if not THE first, "talking" pinball games?

Talking about the arcade game (the handheld doesn't talk):

Williams released the first talking pinball in 1979 (Gorgar), BK came out in 1980. So it wasn't the first, but it was in the early days of talking pinball.

BK was the first to have the 'Magna-Save' feature (a player activated electro-magnet that would save you from loosing the ball), and a feature that allowing someone with the highest score to play a little longer...

Odd, dunno how I almost missed this thread!

My boxed BK was a BIN of $100. It took me a few minutes to decide I could even afford it at the time, I'm lucky no one else ran across it in the interim!

I actually own a full sized Black Knight pinball machine, so I like to joke that it was destiny that I got the handheld...

And I also have a Gorgar! It's very sad, they've both been unassembled since I moved 3 years ago, if my basement clearing project ever gets to the final stages I'll have to set them back up!

Also, the handheld is not exactly the same as Raise the Devil in at least one respect: it has a tilt feature. And RTD doesn't have 24 skill levels either, right, Rik?

Dan, the Museum states

"Entex Raise the Devil Pinball

LED simulated pinball game. It has 24 different skill levels, and also includes a tilt 'feature,' which is activated if you press the flipper buttons repeatedly too fast."

I can't confirm this as I haven't instructions for this game. I could get it down and test it out if Rik isn't sure.

Neil.

I stand corrected! Sounds like it must be exactly the same game with Black Knight artwork after all. Thanks, Neil!
