I think, out of all of my tabletops, this one is my favorite. It's a really fun DK clone with an awesome (<-- vintage 80's slang!) animated mecha monkey at the top. It's fast, and it has four distinct (and challenging) levels of play. The designers did a fantastic job incorproating as much variety into the gameplay as possible, and the animated death sequence for robo-kong on the fourth level is quite fun.

I have both version, and I just love them. One of the best VFD games ever made. Anyone else here play or like this title? It almost never gets mentioned.

Do both versions of the game play exactly the same, or are there any differences between them?

They are functionally identical. The only difference is the case (obviously), and the factthat the sound is more subdued in the TT version. They play exactly the same. The tabletop one is a very nice little unit. I like the styling.

Yep, I was playing the game myself just a few days ago. I couldn't figure out how to make the guy go down in the warp boxes, before I realized that you can't go up and down in the same box, you have to go to the other side of the platform to another box. I was afraid that I had a defective game for a while.

Kind of a funny guy if you really look at him -- it's like playing Donkey Kong but with a bow-legged Mario. Bow-legged so that the red enemy things can fit in the same area.

Yeah, you will not regret it. It's very fun. I got lucky on a tabletop one from japan for $20. Check t he overseas sites and you may get a good deal. The handheld one, while hideously orange, is more easily playable though.

Yeah, that's very true. See, if you get the Tandy one, and you loose it, they can probably find it from orbit. You can hear it a mile away too. It's loud, gaudy and fun. What more can you want out of a game?

Yeah, they're relatively common here in Australia. It was the second game I bought, after Bambino Master Blaster Station. I've seen four or five listed here in the last two years. Mine isn't in the best condition, so I'm on the lookout for a decent boxed one now.

Nice! The belgian seller must have a box full of these, since I found the same auction the week before in Germany and it went unsold at 19,99 Euros, and 2 weeks ago I saw it in Belgium.I was about to make a bid ,not on this one,but I decided to stick with my fancy Japanese boxed one.
