Hey Rik ! An everybody Cool

Are you aware that in your state (California) you have a hockey team going for the major accomplishment ?

We have a debate here about southern US states having hockey teams. I know that baseball, football and basketball are the top sports (well i'd add nascar there) but ice hockey seems to be pretty far in the list.

Do you guys confirm, i mean US folks... Mr. Green

Heh, I'm not really into sports at all, in general...

But, I will go to a hockey game every chance I get... Cool I still don't really follow it enough to be able to talk about it or anything, I just think it's a great sport to watch live.

You know what ,here in Italy it happened the same thing. For decades the hockey championships were won by the alpine cities like Bolzano or even the smaller towns like Cortina and others, then the Milan team got promoted from the minor leagues....apart from this year lost finals ,the Milan Vipers won the last 5 championships.
As everywhere money in professional sports is predominant.Especially if you don't have an equalizer like the salary cap or the drafts.

Why boooo? You are talking about Ottawa not New York or Toronto. That's a small market franchise.
If I were a canadian I would be proud anyway.

PS-Last week I bought the DVD Slap Shot with Paul Newman.I remember seeing it as a child in 1978 in Minnesota on HBO.Man...what a great movie!!!The canadian golie with the allergy to the fan is soooo funny!!The Hanson brothers are one of the best things I ever saw on a sports related movie.A cult movie!!!!! Cool

Laughing yeah some foil ! We still see the Hanson brothers doing some performances on the ice, with Les Boys (a french canadian movie about amateur hockey). Those guys are really funny. And yes slapshot is a real classic !

As for Ottawa, how can i put that... since i'm a real hardcore fan for the Canadien i can't take for the enemy Mr. Green , Ottawa, Toronto and Boston is a no way !!! Quebec Nordiques were the ones i hated the most and we were in the same province...
