|
|
All, I've decided to invest in the Nintendo game&watches. I'm looking to buy ALL multiscreen games first.
I have a couple conditions.
1. I want to buy no less than 5 at a time.
2. The games must be mint in box to very good in box with instructions.
I know I can pick them up from the eBay one at a time, but I want a quick fix. After I complete the multiscreens I would like to buy all the panaramas.
Drop me a note if you can help with the multiscreens.
Linda

Hopefully that'll keep her away from my VFDs!
Or probably not...

Linda,
why do you want "ALL multiscreen games" and "all the panaramas"?
This won't be easy.
You'll find out that every type has 1 very rare game. So completing a series will be a goal on its own... For example getting a (original) boxed Rain Shower multi screen won't be easy at all. The other multi screen games? Just a matter of plenty $$.
For the panOrama screen games, getting hold of a boxed Mickey Mouse will test your patience for sure.
My tip: don't try to get complete series or even 60/60.
Get at least one of every series instead!
G&W games are very similar. If you see/have one (of one type) you've seen all : )
good luck anyway

Elepla, it's OK if it's not easy. I can be patient if need be.

I hate to show my ignorance, but better now than later. When you say "original" what do you mean? How do I tell the difference? Is it just release dates?

I'm also quite curious about the ''original'' thing, they made exact copies ? Or is it just like tandy making their own ''version'', most of the time putting tandy on it.

"Original" G&Ws usually refers to the 1st Edition/release of that game as there was at least 2 different releases (slighty different boxes & paperwork but games are the same) for almost all G&Ws. Some games have 4 different releases! The easiest & most notable difference are the barcoded box versions. These are the last edition/release of that particular game & are by far the least desirable amongst collectors.
There are variants too but these are generally less desirable except for Pocketsize versions because of their more colourful box artwork. These versions were released in specific countries only. Eg : NOA/Pocketsize - USA/Canada release, CGL - UK release, Futuretronics - Australian release, etc.
Hope this helps . Happy to answer any more queries.
RGF.
P.S. Linda, I have quite a few G&Ws for sale, NMIB to New/Brand New |

Huh, I never knew that, now I don't feel so envious of those collectors who have "all" the games boxed, they still don't have a complete set! |

Thanks for the info retrogamefan, but i'm wondering... do you know why they were doing that ? Were the boxes nicer as the versions switched ?

They actually do have complete sets because CGL, Futuretronics, OTO, Pocketsize are all re-releases of the original. The changes in paperwork between editions, generally reflect printing changes (error corrections).

As G&Ws increased in popularity, they were then distributed by game companies in certain countries. These versions are known as a later edition or re-release.
The variant boxes (CGL & Futuretronics) are almost identical to the original release. The most notable difference is their logo on the front & back of the box. The exception is the Pocketsize versions, excluding Black Jack (there is a rarer different Pocketsize box for Black Jack though), Squish, Bomb Sweeper, Safe Buster, Gold Cliff & Zelda. These 6 games were only released as Pocketsize versions & are commonly classed as the 2nd series of Multiscreens G&Ws.

I collected these hardcore years ago with the 1st wave of g&w collectors and the only series I sold off since were the Multiscreens which were all brand new. Sorry Linda! As an investment though, they were awesome. I think I worked out a 700% return |

What I meant with a "original boxed" Rain Shower game, was the fact that due to the rarity of this game, people started selling self-made copies of the box. Some were made and sold by "rudewheels" at ebay - seller of lots of NIB g&w games. Very nicely done with color xerox copies on cardboard etc. but not original... So watch out for this : ) |

Here in the UK, Game & Watches are a more popular collectible than VFD/LED games. MIB silver first editions regularly sell for over $300 US so it 'll be an expensive process getting 'em all. Good luck and i hope you've got deep pockets! |
