I hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes but I thought that a separate topic was warranted for ridiculous listings or "ridiculistings" as I like to call them.

My first nomination:

Sears Baseball (Loose) starting at only $55.00

Must...resist...bidding...at this low starting price on such a super rare game.

All I know is that even if this game is missing the battery cover, it will not affect the value of a game of this caliber.

And don't forget: PATENT PENDING! That makes it worth all the money in the world! Mr. Green

(Boy, if they don't have their patent after 20+ years, they probably aren't going to get it... Smile )

Nice, but a starting bid of only $39.50? And only $12.00 for shipping! Don't anyone get in a bidding war me - this baby's mine.

One of a kind!

More like one of the 20 or so listed in the last month. Laughing

Is it me or do Nintendo Game and Watches (especially the common ones) seem to be the most overpriced handhelds around. For one thing they are probably the MOST COMMON handhelds you can usually find. Every single mom & pop electronics/stereo equipment store on the corner sold them. Not just in Japan & the US... but WORLDWIDE. So why are they always so pricey? Neutral

Spacemonsteviras you get my vote for finding the most ridiculous listing this month. I think one of a kind must refer to the seller not the listing.

Damn, I thought the auction was kind of funny, but I just realized he's listed it for $150!!! Reminds me of a time someone listed an MGA Pac Man game for $199 saying it was incredibly rare and there hasn't been another one Ebay in months! (That's becuase no one wants to waste their time selling a 50 cent game on Ebay... Mr. Green I didn't have the heart to tell him.)

Yeah, I thought it must have been a typo and they'd meant to list it for $1.99, but then I read the beat-up. I love it when sellers describe some tatty old piece of junk as though it's the Holy Grail. I bet it doesn't even have the battery cover. Laughing

I come across plenty of other items like this, not just games. That's what comes from being an obsessive-compulsive eBay hound. Embarassed

MIB examples often command sky-high prices - $1000 isn't uncommon here in Australia. Ridiculistings, indeed! I own a boxed Donkey Kong Jr which I was lucky to win for a very good price, though it's not quite mint, but the rest (around 15 or so I think) are in various states of disrepair and nakedness. I'm not that fussy when it comes to LCDs, as long as they're presentable. You can find bargains though, you just have to be in the right place at the right time - the $10 Snoopy Panorama has to be the best win I've had to date.

James.

I was quite pleased with myself when I found a boxed Snoopy tabletop for $25 BIN... I too had a sweet job back then, that involved waiting for something to do and thus plenty o' surfing... Those were the days!

Hehe, I was just about to post about you $25 Snoopy a few minutes ago... And how I was thinking of stalking your mail box... Cool

Here's a Pac Man I almost grabbed the BIN on for $50, until I read closely...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8254699921
[Archived: 8254699921 ]

(Another category of Ridiculisting!)

It will probably get yanked, so I'll fill in the details: Looks clean, shows box & book, free ship w/BIN... and tiny text clues you in the actual item is not shown, it has no upper housing, and he never says anything about the box so that's not there either!

(And the top pic was stolen from Rik!)

Hehe, I took care of it in a more entertaining fashion... Check out the auction now (refresh if you just see a picture of Coleco Pac Man at the top of the page).
[Archived: 8254699921 (After I changed the image that he was linking to.)]

He doesn't seem to realize that I can change the .JPGs on my website, and now that there's a bidder, he can't modify the auction to remove the image! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

(Although it will make the Coleco Pac Man page on my website look a little odd for a couple of days... Worth it in my opinion.)

ROFL!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I was going to suggest this kind of thing, but I didn't think you'd want to muck up the museum for the duration!

But you deviously came up with it on your own, and I never thought you'd make it this hilarious! That pic from Vacation and the caption had me crying!

(You could change the link on the Pac Man page, of course, to make the Museum look normal...)

P.S. Yay! I'm a Red Line! (I wonder if anyone else gets so excited to reach these milestones?)

Bwahaha, after Rik replaced his pic, our Pac Man friend added a SquareTrade seal to his auction. Talk about clueless!

He's also selling Dodgers baseball season tickets for $0.99 BIN, shipping $2999! Can you say "fee avoidance?" (The auction even says that's why!)

Then his terms say local pickup is free, hope someone takes him up on that! Rolling Eyes
