I don't know enough yet to know if this is actually rare or valuable or not, but in my daily eBay searches this is the first of this version of Defender I've seen. I like the looks of it and decided to share. Probably won't get it myself, which is why I'm sharing
Edit: Just looked it up in the FAQ and it is rated IR++, looks like a fun item to add to a collection.

Here is one more by the same seller. I couldn't find this one in the FAQ or the museum... |

It is the same game as the red Gakken defender, in a Super Cobra case. |

And neither one of them are very common (Gakken or Konami Defender that is). I haven't actively searched for them in a while (I have both versions), but this Konami version was worth over $300 in a mint box when I got mine...
Not sure if it will still hold that value or not (and the box is pretty beat up), but it's still a fairly uncommon game...

The red one is very easy to get here in Europe. Fun thing is, it is very comparable to the Entex game, only one column misses on each side for scanning incoming planes. Sprites are almost identical. Guess there was some shared development between these games.
And the Gakken has much easier controls. The stick and two buttons feel way more natural than the gazilion buttons on the Entex. |

I believe these were both made by Gakken. The body style of the Konami/Entex one is one of Gakken's designs (used on Super Cobra). That would probably explain the similarities. |

I meant the blue Entex one. I know Entex also did a Super Cobra shaped one. I mean there are lot of similarities with the blue speed dial entex Defender |

Ah, that one... So many versions... hehe...
It's probably sort of like Frogger- There's a lot of similarities between the Coleco's Frogger and the CGL/Gakken Frogger too. It's almost like they both started with the same basic design, and then each manufacturer added their own tweaks to it... |

If anyone here bought this Italian Mattel 1981 catalog, I'd very much like to borrow it to scan for the website:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/160912318153
(Or I will buy it from you if you decide you don't want it!).
So much in that catalog, it could have gone a Barbie or Hot Wheels collector (or several other toys), but I thought I'd ask...

Guess that a Barbie lover bought it. Much larger collectorbase I guess
Just message the seller if he wants to scan the electronic game pages before shipping it. |

Yeah, I thought of that, but wasn't sure how well he'd understand English... Will probably try though. |
