You know, I'm still pretty convinced that Montreal, Canada is NOT in the U.K. ... I've never really been sure why he lists his auctions that way. When you look at a complete list by seller, it just says they are all located in the United Kingdom (which can affect whether people in the US or Canada will bid on it since some people don't like buying things from overseas...)

This will reply to hiparco's post: I do not claim that this list is exhaustive but it is what I have compiled to date as to games I have and games I want. For the record, I only collect games issued in North America and I purposely avoid the newer LCD/Tiger-type baseball games.

I am sure this list would be several times bigger if Japanese baseball games and other games marketed worldwide were to be included.

Hi Phitter,

Do you konw the value of the Micro Electronics Baseball (the big one, kind of tabletop)? You have it boxed.

I want to buy it loose (if i'm lucky)...

Please let me know...

Egbert-

Of the two versions I have seen of the game, it appears that the 5-button model (56-301-06) is much less common than the 4-button version (56-303-06). (But I certainly welcome comments if this has not been the experience of other collectors.)

I would think that a loose 5-button should be in the $25 (all money in U.S. Dollars) range and a complete in box at $50 assuming it has the Styrofoam inserts and instruction manual.

I would think a loose 4-button should be in the $15 range with a complete in box being in the $25-$30 range. It seems as though the white plastic of the 4-button model is more prone to yellowing with age so I would be willing to pay a premium for a nice white 4-button model, regardless of which version of the box it came in.

There was a time that this game saw some good competitive bidding on eBay and prices were higher than the ones above. I think that things have calmed down and the games do pop up from time to time.

If you look in the Missing Games section under the Misc. Baseball Games Updates, I posted some more detailed photos of both versions of the game and all three box versions.

I hope this helps. By the way, how popular is baseball in the Netherlands? Are you a baseball fan, too or just interested in getting the game for your collection?

Phitter

Thanks for the great information.
The one i saw is with 4 bottums, the seller says that he don't know if the game is working.

I didn't know that there are 2 versions. I will take a look at the pictures, the baseball games are verry populair in this forum and i forget to look at the missing games list.

I'm not a baseball fan an baseball is not verry populair in The Netherlands but it's more populair then 10 yaers ago. It's a nice game for my collection.

I'm glad that my bid on this game is about 12,5$ so not to high.
I think that the seller want's a higer price and he is not able tot test the game.

That last post brings up something I have been wondering about, I see this with consoles on Ebay all the time and a lot of the electronic handhelds also, why do people say they are unsure if they work or not, I can understand them saying "put in batteries, lights come on and it makes sound", maybe they dont' know how the game is supposed to play, but to say that they are unsure if it works or not, come on, go spend fifty cents on a battery or take one out of your smoke detector for five minutes and fire it up. To me if it says "unsure if it works, or unable to test" I translate to mean it is junk and doesn't work. What does everyone else think about this?

I can't tell you how many times "untested" has turned out to mean "junk" for me! Not always innocently, either -- when the battery terminals are corroded to all hell or broken off it's very convenient to label it untested.

So I learned the hard way to ask questions. When they don't mention things like clean terminals (or the presence of a battery cover!), I now ask. Sometimes you can guess, when they managed to test other things that use batteries in their other auctions current and completed, I feel justified in assuming they are being deliberately misleading and steer clear.

The exception I make is with games that use button cells, I can see the odd seller not familiar with these games not having those lying around...

I think one guy I dealt with takes the cake.
He said "did not want to buy batteries so game untested"
I received it with it the old batteries still corroded in the game. They were so corroded they could not be removed. Evil or Very Mad
He didn't mention that part.
