Nice one Rik Laughing That was a great idea!

Dan , I'm also keen to see what game I will be next Smile . I hope you like being an Entex Crazy Climber because you will be one for some time. Is there a rarer game to look forward to Rik?

Neil.

Wow Rik, I didn't know you could do that. I love it.
I've bought a thing or two that didn't match the picture and they didn't even have that small print disclaimer. To me it's a form of theft.

Hey Dan, did you happen to notice on the CGL Jet Fighters you won on Jan 8th that the picture of the box they used was also from my website:

http://www.handheldmuseum.com/CGL/JetFighters.htm

I guess that happens a lot...

Neil- Yes, there's more game ranks... I couldn't use Crazy Climber as the rarest since a lot of people actually have one of them. Mr. Green

It just takes longer to change ranks as you go higher up...

Rik, no I hadn't noticed that. Too bad search in description excludes the inside of tags, or you could find them using that.

Isn't there some way to log referring urls? But I suppose not if all that's being linked is a pic...

And your Pac Man (deserving) victim seems to have learned his lesson, check out the relist:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8255361624
[Archived: 8255361624 ]

Then he missed his own tiny text about the item shown not being actual, and left it in! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Yeah, I saw that he cancelled and re-listed the auction.. So I set Pac Man back to the old picture (after saving the old auction, of course!)

The Jet Fighters seller had actually copied the picture from my site and re-uploaded it to Ebay's picture server, so it wasn't a direct link... I don't mind people linking to pictures that much (although I prefer they just steal the image and upload it elsewhere if they have to use one), just as long as they aren't doing what rfrgrinder was doing, or stating/implying that the image they are showing is the actual item being sold. People link to my manuals all the time, or will copy the text from my site and paste it into the auctions... I'm cool with that as long as it's not being abusive or deceptive...

This guy was obviously just being a jerk, and when a friend of mine asked for an actual picture, he responded by saying someone 'illegally altered his auction.' Uhh, no, I legally changed an image on my website, not my fault you linked directly to it. Then he sent the image that he now has in the auction, and if you notice, there's already an Ebay 'camera' icon on the picture itself, so even that picture he took from a previous Ebay auction...

I see Ebay wasted no time cancelling the auction with the $2999 shippng charge within hours after I reported it.

So the "actual" picture he emailed wasn't even actual? Sheesh!

And I reported that $2999 shipping auction too. I still wish someone had used BIN and said they wanted to pick up for free, though! Twisted Evil

Must be very rare? Uhuh.

When it comes to research, there's no substitute for supposition.

And cop that postage amount!

I don't know why this type of listings surprise me anymore. The Vanity Fair version of this game is actually rare, but it's not $225 rare, in my opinion. Yeah the shipping within Europe is only $60. That should be the price of the game.

I think there was another one of these games that went for a lot recently. These buyers might have seen that one and so bid higher this time. It does seem a lot though.

I think he is a genuine buyer, just new to Ebay. I used to bid in little chunks like he is doingwhen I started off. It seemed like more fun at the time Smile . All his bids have been for vintage handheld games and this is the first time he has bid on this seller....Have a look Wink

What is up with the Bandai Vampire? I saw a boxed one in Japan for $350! I could not figure out why it was so high. I wonder if it's rare in other countries? Actually I've only seen a handful of these, but I didn't know the desirability was so high.

I've seen a lot of things in Japan listed at very high prices and I've never really understood why... Even if they aren't extremely common outside of Japan, they usually aren't worth what they try to ask for them. Maybe that's why you see stores full of these games (I think Linda said the Machine Man in one of those stores was nearly $1000. It might be a hard game to find, but it's not THAT hard...)
