I'd like to know more about this game:
http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Unknown/SpaceInvaders.htm
its actually cool to play and can be fast.

Question is: my one is even older cos on the back it says 1976!
does this mean that maybe it came out before auto-race????
was this the worlds first game called "space invaders"????
anyone know anything?
does anyone else have one with a date on the back?

I've just checked mine (and I'm glad I did as I left the battery in it!) and as far as I can see it doesn't have a date on the back. There are only instructions and a diagram telling you how to play the game which is partly rubbed away.

Have you got a photo of the date? I'd be interested to see how the back differs from mine. It seems a little too advanced a game to have come out in 1976. I have read that the name 'Space Invaders' was created by Tomohiro Nishikado and his boss in 1978.

My game turned up without it's nice round red joystick end so I got inventive and use a blind hub from work. It's green but works fine and looks a lot like the original Smile

I wish I had pictures of mine... I usually photograph my games before I stash them in storage, but I apparently missed that one... Hopefully I'll come across it soon as I'm trying to sort out my boxes of games and sell off extras... As some of you may have noticed. Rolling Eyes

But definitely post a picture of the back of your game. Maybe it's a 78 that's worn down a little?

ok I checked the back of it again, and I should have done so before starting the thread cos its too worn to read. So i dont remember what made me think it was 1976, i think i might have read it somewhere on the net.
sorry for the false alarm guys!

but does anyone know the brand of it?
