Super 8 is a modern-day E.T. filled with the 70s, kids, bicycles, alien activity, and a scene with one of the kids playing Classic Football with all the sound effects.

It was a total Proud Dork Moment for me. Smile

Yup, I just recently saw the film and of course I noticed that immediately. What surprised me was that they actual referenced the game directly.

I hope they were playing the original and not the "Classic"!

Hmm, thanks for the heads-up!

I'd previously dismissed this movie as an inferior knock-off of Cloverfield{which J.J. Abrams also was responsible for}, but now I'll give Super 8 a second chance.

It sounds like this film really captures that late 70s-early 80s era well.

I'm awfully glad that Tron:Legacy isn't the only recent film to showcase vintage handhelds!
