Tomytronic Pac-Man Clock

Hi folks,

Yup, the title is correct since i have finished a few hours ago my second
handheld-based clock (first one was the Tomy Tron Clock). Here's some
pictures:

Took a picture when i finished soldering everything and made a test
to be sure everything was working.

Dimmed a bit the lights so we can see better the VFD clock.

Now completely reassembled and running after putting the correct time.

And here we see the date (when pressed the button down).

OK, some people will blast me when i have "scrapped" intentionally a
working Tomytronic Pac-Man to do this project BUT...i did kept the main
board and the VFD display intact so if someone has a defective or dead
Tomytronic Pac-Man, the board and screen is for sell (for a small price).

The clock i used comes from one of my old cars (an Honda Accord before
it went to junk ward heaven) so this tiny clock was a perfect fit for this
project. The clock buttons are now:

* Hour/Month = LEFT
* Date (display) = DOWN
* Minutes/Day = RIGHT
* Reset (clock) = UP

As for the AM/Pro and On/Off switch, they are not connected but left them
for the esthetic look.

So if you ever have a non-working or dead handheld game, why not give
it a new life and an utility ?

That looks fantastic. You have done a great job , well done . I think you could sell those on ebay, I'm sure people would buy them.

Could be really fixed up with some custom graphics, stickers.

@vcoleiro1: Good idea to sell those types of mods but i just do one of a kind
(i like to do "unique" things) and anyhow, buying small clocks and buying some Tomytronic Pac-Man's (and scrapping working boards) would be time
and money consuming.

I have sssooooo many others projects in mind so that's why i usually
do a "one time only" project.

@ GameWatchGuy: I had that also in mind, replacing the beat-up sticker
and replace it with better artwork (same for my Tomy Tron VFD alarm
clock). I will make a new label (for both clocks) sometime in a near
future. When done, i'll post both clocks with the new artwork. Smile

Has been a while now since I made the last one - the mini cocktail cab. Im thinking of making a mini sit down driving cab by modding a Caanoo handheld and having a working steering wheel , brakes and pedals. Just havent been inspired enough to start the project.

Those are amazing! Cool

I like those GBA mini-cab but even more the Ipod mini-cab. Way more
cooler than the Ipad desktop arcade cab. Wink

You should post on Ben Heck forum about those mini-arcades, when it comes to portable and miniature video game stuffs, he's a total nuts
about these.

Maybe you can even end up on Ben Heck show! Wink

Now this maybe would motivate you to do the mini sit down cab!! Wink
