Hello all, I'm new to the forum,

If you can name this game i'd be amazed... I'm 33 now, and I played this constantly when I was around 8 or 9 years old, so we're talking mid-80's.

It was a red case, with direction button and a single fire button, possibly white (I think...)

The game itself was a space shooter. You manned a spaceship that fired a single bullet at a time and had to shoot a single type of alien enemy. if i recall, they acted in two distinct ways, one type stayed static and scrolled across the screen, the other would home in on you. each level took place in distinct waves and in addition, most levels were filled with boxes that the player would have to navigate, sometimes like a maze.....

I think the artwork in the background depicted a barren, rocky planet surface.

that's about all I can remember, any ideas? Smile

How big was the game? Also, do you know if it was LCD or VFD? (Did the display light up in different colors, or were the enemies and you black on a light colored background)?

It kind of sounds like several games, but this info might help narrow it down.... (Unless someone else knows exactly what it is... Cool )

Hard to say how big the game was, as a child it was pretty big in my hands, but is probably a lot smaller than I remember. It was larger than most of the game n watch types, and it was definitely just black sprites on a coloured background. As for the dimensions, i'd just be guessing, but say, 6 inches tall by 4 wide, and 1/4 inch thick.

if it helps, I think each level may have alternated... first a level with no blocks, just enemies, then you'd get a maze type level, then just enemies again, but it got progressively harder.

Still not easy...
Take a look to this list which contains (mostly) red g&w shaped lcd games.
Does any of them rings a bell?

oh good grief! what an idiot Smile I was pretty tired last night, not really paying enough attention to what I read.

However...

I browsed through that list and none looked familiar.... until...

Number 163 "La Guerre De Astres" .. It jumped straight out at me. That's the one, no doubt! It's a french version, but it's given me a place to start looking. Thank you so much! Very Happy
