I'm looking to put a racing game or 2 into my collection.

I'm not sure exactly how many are out there. Vfd, led, lcd...

What are your recommendations? Top 3?

Thanks a lot!

I've only been rabidly collecting for a couple years and it's been 30+ years since I played a few of the handhelds and only owned Space Invader and Dataman, so still an excited newb. I think I can really only recommend two.

Tomytronic Thundering Turbo is a lot of fun. I actually finished it! Don't recall my score. And forgot to take a 'screenshot', darnit. Have to do it again!

I love Digital Derby. Sits in my living room. I have yet to have a perfect, no smash, run. One day, I will ... one day ...

Keeping my eyes open to get a fair-priced Mattel Electronics Auto Race.

Bandai Champion Racer looks decent too.

Wow. I actually didn't think about the 3d racers. I have a boxed thundering turbo, which I also beat the last level. That's a great game.

I have a boxed Vtech 3d Gamate that plays Formula 500. It's similar to thundering turbo. You can put in other cartridges. I actually needed to open and clean it. Works perfect, but haven't put much time into it.

Digital Derby looks like good fun. Nice recommendation. I haven't seen it. I'd say I'm a few years new to these electronic games as well. Really loving them!

Bambino Race'N'Chase
The packaging also looks stellar.

I just got this as a birthday present. I wrote up a little review in the high score section. Great, challenging game!

Hey guys, I've been lurking since joining, and thought I'd throw my own 2 cents in on this topic.

I've only got 2 racing games but they're both beauts, as you can see. LBGP is very difficult - one day I'll take the time to get good at it. RedLine is still a blast. SO loud and super-fun. I'd like to pick up the Tomy mechanical racing games, esp' the UK variants. I had Mattel Auto Race as a kid, seemed amazing at the time lol.

I hope to be an active member. I've got a limited collection but try to keep it quality. I have a nice bunch of Casio game calculators - they were very popular in New Zealand in the early 80's.

Alan.

Hello alyinsanfran,

We look forward to more posts! I'd like to give your recommendations a go. They definitely look neat!

Since, my last post on this... My favorite racing game has changed. I did a little write up on it in the high score section.

Ludotronic Auto Challenge

I can honestly say I never even knew these existed. What a nice machine.
