Coleco Donkey Kong help

I just picked up a nice Coleco Donkey Kong. Cleaned up the outside. Put the batteries in. It fired up with beautiful colors. I pressed start and the joystick was working fine, but the jump button was off and on.

I had to press hard to get it to go. Eventually the jump button stopped working all together.

Has anyone run into this? Is this something as simple as the rubber membrane touching the board being old? And it either needs to be cleaned or replaced.

Or something more serious, like a problem on the board itself. I don't have much experience with fixing these old games. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

I opened it up and cleaned everything inside really well. Put some rubbing alcohol on the contacts. Sprayed out the inside. It's looking and playing fresh, like it just came off the shelf.
