Well, as most of you have noticed from the previous thread, several of us are working on starting a handheld/tabletop highscore club. Since there is definately interest, I figured I'd start another thread and get everyones vote on where we should begin.

Let's start off with a 'top ten' list of favorite games from everyone. Why don't we start with the VFD games, as those tend to be the most fun. Just list the games you like the most, with reason's why (if you want), and then we can compile the lists and go from there.

Also, do you guys want to do a 'game of the week or month', or do you just want to have a general list of games that people can update as they like, or both? Just curious. I'm by no means trying to run the show, here, so feel free to speak up with any suggestions.

Here are my top ten picks (in no particular order)

Entex Defender - for arcade controls and a high degree of playability
Tomy Scramble - Lots of variety and a good arcade port
Coleco Ms Pacman - Great game, and it has changing mazes and fruit.
Coleco Frogger - Probably the best VFD arcade to home port ever
Coleco/Nintendo DKJr - My favorite game, hands down
Coleco Donkey Kong - Fun and it will kick your ass. Makes for a good competition
Tandy Kingman - Obscure DK clone that has plenty of punch in the gameplay department. I like it better than DK.
Tomy Tron -Awesome game. Crossing my fingers I win one on ebay...
Entext Pacman 2 - Voted the best 'pac' VFD game by most. Mine should be arriving in the mail soon.
Bandai Galaxian - Sure it's timed, but it's still fairly fun. Coleco is better (as I recall) but i actually OWN the bandai one Cool

Well, that's nine, and all the VFD games I own so far Smile

I'm sure most of you will add Q-bert, Galaxian, Mr Do etc. I'm sure I will too if I ever get 'em, but I'm still getting my feet wet in this hobby.

Let's here from you guys (and gals) now!

We will have to be clear which version of some games we want scores for. For instance,
Entex Defender/Defender (arcade) - Same name but very different gameplay.

Tandy Kingman - would Tomy Kingman scores be admisible? One has a multidirection button instead of 4 seperate buttons and different case. Might make one slightly easier to play than the other?

Entex Space Invader - 2 different versions with very similar cases and the same buttons but quite different gameplay.

Lord Thag, I'm afraid to say that Coleco/Nintendo DKJr isn't a VFD so would have to go on a later list.

The games both of you have chosen are excellent choices. Here are a few more of the easier to get games that I think deserve to be on the shortlist :-

Grandstand Astro Wars
Grandstand Firefox F-7
Grandstand Star Force
Tomy Super Cobra Copter
CGL Galaxy Invader 10,000
CGL Puckmonster
Tomy Caveman
and
Bandai Frisky Tom (a bit harder to get but great frustrating fun).

I'm looking forward to the challenge whatever games are chosen to be included.

Neil.
