I had this as a kid so knew some tactics when I bought one for collecting. These are my scores from my Black book. Any higher should have photo evidence from me.

68 , 71 , 72 and my best so far of 77 Smile

Thanks Very Happy . I don't think Ill ever be a true champion racer though (100+). I think I my best ever is about 85 at around the age of 10 and I'm determined to match it one day. I'll keep a nervous eye out for your latest high scores Shocked .

After owning one of these when I was about 9 (in 1979) I got one off Ebay.com last week Smile

First few goes saw a couple of very ropey scores but this afternoon at work (best place to play games!) I notched a 64. I'm pretty sure that beats any score I had as a kid. Now to aim for that 88 Very Happy

Thanks for the welcome Smile

Your record may stand for a while i think. I had moved offices today so no longer can I play it at work. The thing could do with a Mute or Volume Control really, otherwise it's just too noisy to be subtle Sad

Neil, you have two options :
you were on STEROIDS or on CAFFEINE. Laughing
How in the world did you get those scores. Shocked
My best ,so far, is 65 ,but to achive it I got REALLY angry and frustrated. They are supposed to be toys not torture machines!!! Evil or Very Mad
You must play at speed 4 which is literaly unplayable for me!!!
Gotta have some more coffee!!!!!!!!!Claudia make it strong please!!!!

Caffeine could have been involved in my performance but it was not a deliberate enhancement!

I did use speed 4 as much as I could to get the 88. As an experiment I tried to get as high a score as I could only using up to speed 3. I was suprised to find I managed to score 85 twice. I thought I'd include this photo incase anyone thought my 88 was just the display malfunctioning Cool .

During both 85 runs I only crashed twice so only lost 4 seconds of time. I was also able to spend most of my time on speed 3 so minimising the number of times there was a pause in scoring when changing speeds.

I score faster when at speed 4 but crash more often so keeping the score down.

I would think that 88 or possibly a bit more would be possible using up to speed 3 if you only crash once.

The cars that appear at the top of the screen often pause for a second or so before dropping rapidly. My tactic is to change lane Just before we collide and to drop below speed 3 as few a times as possible.

I play the game with my left index finger on the ON/OFF switch and reset the game if I have crashed more than about 3 times as I know I won't be able to beat my best score Wink .

Thats a stunning score Alex! I'm going to have to get my game down again soon. I think your score will stand for some time though!

Don't give in blue6demon. Remember, you don't give up. Just say to yourself "I can do it, I can do it" and when you slip into 'the zone' on speed 3 a whole new world of scores will open up to you Smile

Go on, give it another go!

Neil.
