Just got this one in the mail. Pretty fun, but I wrapped it over a couple of times on my second game for a score of 2435. The LED version is MUCH harder. Not a bad game though, it keeps my attention! _________________ Playin' the world, one game at a time... |

Which one do you have? The first one or the second one:

I'm not 100% sure if the game play is exactly the same between them...

The second one, that looks like Entex's Galaxian 2 model. I've never seen the other one, are they very common? _________________ Playin' the world, one game at a time... |

I'd say that the one you have is less common, i'll have to verify if both games are the same... you got me curious Rik _________________ Keep on playing... no matter what ! |

Interesting. I would be willing to bet that they are probably the same. Probably a repackage of the older hardware using the current run body style for the Galaxian 2 game. Nice to know that mine is a bit rarer. I kind of dig the weird 'space' design of the unit. Very eighties
Actually, I just realized something else Rik. It escaped my attention (due to a jittery fire button) that there are three difficulty levels to this game. I'm pretty sure my score was on one of the easier levels now that I've tried level three. Go ahead and nix this score. I'll post another one in the next couple of days on the correct level. _________________ Playin' the world, one game at a time... |

Gave it a try:
Level 1: 2894 (my wife called me to help with the kid, so I lost 2 lifes after 2800 points!)
It shows 894 as it loops after 999 back to 0, adding an extra life too.
Level 2: 855
Level 3: 128! (Insanety!) |

Level 3:174
At a certain point the invaders almost start in the bunkers!
And press right immediately when a new round starts, or you are nuked in the blink of an eye. |

I had a really good time with this version of invaders. Level 3 speed is awesome. Short, intense games. When I first started playing level 3, I was getting taken down almost immediately.
As you play more often, you can get adjusted to the speed. The further you get in the game, the enemy ships start closer and closer to your defense blocks. When they get too close, your fate is definitely sealed. I was getting a lot of scores in the 200s when the enemies got this low. I thought there was no way to get into 300 territory.
I kept playing for fun and got a super lucky game in, where I took down a good amount of mother ships early. Things were going so fast later on as the enemies moved down. I had a feeling it was good, so I was rapid fire on the button and hoping for the best... I looked up and couldn't believe it. 300 plus score! Wow! I continued to play but was stuck in the 200s after that. Good luck to those shooting for a 300 score!
My top score right now (and probably best I will ever get) on level 3 is: 334
