LSI stands for Large Scale Integration, which is what they called the circuitry on Integrated Circuits (ICs) when they got up around 10000 transistors per chip (i.e. microprocessors) circa 1974. They were used in computers then, and 5 years laster they were being used in such mundane things as handheld games! Mr. Green
