Freddy's Dead is one of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies (the 6th movie to be exact). Anyway here's proof
ok the first image i took was the kid (Spencer is his name) "playing" it and the camera zooms up on the game and shows the game. The time index is about 9 minutes and 36 seconds into the movie. See below:
this last one i took is just a side view of him "playing" it
well there you go I was caught by surprise when i saw it in a horror movie I had to rewind the DVD to make sure i wasn't seeing things. |

Cool find, that's a hell of a camera angle too... No doubt at all about what game it is...

As a huge supporter of the Elm Street movies, I've noticed this scene as well.
Ninja Gaiden is excellent is any form{LCD, arcade, NES}, and its almost-blatant product placement in Freddy's Dead leads me to believe that there was perhaps a deal between Tiger, Tecmo, and New Line Cinema.
The character of Spencer is played by Breckin Meyer, best known for both his role in the film Clueless as well as the older voice of Joseph Gribble on King of the Hill.
Give the fact that Freddy Krueger's glove morphs into the NES-based Power Glove later on, the appearance of Ninja Gaiden isn't this film's only late-80s' gaming reference. |
