|
|
hello handheld gamers. i was recently lucky enough to find an epoch vfd
fights of the titans game on ebay from canada. i absolutely love the game
but i am having some trouble. this game did not come w instructions.
as you know, a lot of these games are tough to figure out. i can easily kill
medussa at the top left. the giant spider creature in the middle, and the
dragon on the right...but for the life of me i can't defeat the sasquatch who
is guarding my woman in the lower left of the screen. i see an area where a
small vfd graphic may "destroy" him in the middle, but pressing the button
here does nothing! any help anyone could give would be very appreciated.
thanks guys. billytherobot@gmail.com |

I can scan the manual, but it's in Japanese so we might need help from someone to translate...
Glancing at the images it looks like he attacks with two images, a tiny 'hand' appears at the top of the screen, then a large hand/arm that I assume kills you? It looks like you have to get in under that large hand and attack.
Maybe wait one sprite away from the demon, and as soon as the larger hand appears, lunge forward and attack?
Been way too long since I played that game... |

ok! i got it! each monster needs to be defeated in an very exact way.
the medussa...right to left.
the giant spider...down to up.
the dragon...left to right.
and finally the sasquatch (or whatever he is)...up to down.
THEN...the giant clown demon shows up...still trying to figure that out.
this is actually a beautiful game. it's so rare and fun. maybe my favorite
i own.....i still can't believe that these were made back in the day.
man, these were ahead of their time!!!
rik, i'll have some high scores for you soon!

i also saw that one listed for over $1500!...a bit steep!
there is 1 on there now for $139 or best offer from france. (ebay)
it is the end of october 2012 as i type this and it's on for 25 more days.
the seller has 100% feedback. i would offer him $125 and see what
happens. i just saw one 5 months back start at $49 and close at $148.
(both without box)
also, i figured out how to defeat the evil clown demon and win the
girls heart. (it's actually pretty simple) 3 strikes right to left. avoid the arm.
thanks everyone. if anyone else has this game i'd be thrilled to hear from u.
oh yeah, and here's the ebay link:

I bought one, just two hours ago...
In box and with instructions...
In very good condition...
...
I paid it 15 euro.
Are you really sure that it is so rare? In Italy you see it around not so rarely, I think. Soon I post the photos in the thread of my collection. _________________ ** My Collection ** |

Get me a 15 euro boxed too
Please scan that manual! And don't forget to put black paper behind the page you scan, people mostly forget that. It prevents see-through.
I see I bought one way too expensive. But I got a 15 euro Pengo and 19 euro FL Zaxxon. It is great deals and less great deals.
BTW how is it called and on what site do you buy it? Some fancy italian name?
Ebay is really weird. It never shows Italian, German or Spanish listings, but it does show many French, British and Dutch.
Oh, and last question: explain your box. It is a Japanese box, but with English manual. Is it sold like that in Italy?
BTW did I do better pricewise with 65€ for a new in box 3D racing by Entex? |

If I happen to see it, I'll whistle.

I don't know. This is the tabletop that I bought: http://www.ebay.it/itm/370671071041
(The game's name is written wrong ... so it did not appear if you have done a search )
But not buy on eBay, I contacted the seller privately and I paid 15 euro and withdrawn by hand.
Yes, the box is in Japanese and instructions is in English, I don't know why. _________________ ** My Collection ** |

Another example of a game that's IR++ in most of the world, but apparently it's a lot more common in one country (Italy)...
Yes, please let me (or any of us) know about any less than 100 euro. ~$100 is not a bad price for a loose one (and the ITMC version is harder to find), if you can find boxed ones cheaper than that, you can make some money selling to the rest of the world (until you flood the market, at least. )
But I could definitely use another one to put on display for people to play, so if you can get me a cheap one, I'd love that. Any condition, as long as it works...
Entex 3D Grand Prix seems to be inching it's way back up in value... That was an interesting game to watch many years ago. No one had seen it forsale (much), and someone sold a boxed one for nearly $300. Then he sold another one for $200... Then another for $1xx, then another and another... Turns out he found about 20-30 of them in a warehouse, but didn't mention that at the beginning of his sales... His last few sat on eBay for months at $9.99 with no bids (because everyone that collects handheld games already had one. ) I suspect several people bought more than one in hopes of future investment, I think that's where the occasional boxed one comes from on eBay these days.
Looks like it's getting back up there though, a loose one sold for $50, and a boxed one for $80 (is that one yours?). If there's multiple bids on it in a normal auction format, it's probably a fair enough price. It's the 'Buy-it-nows' you have to watch out for... |

Well, that's not really a fair judgement of the game's value... That's taking advantage of someone that doesn't know the value of what he's selling... He limited himself by listing it as an Italian only auction, but I would have bid more than $100 on it if I had seen it, and I already have one. (Hell, I'd have bid more if I knew the instructions were in English... )
And, just so you know, contacting people to sell things listed on eBay off of eBay is against their rules, and considered theft. They will ban you from the site if they catch you doing it (all a seller has to do is forward the Email to eBay...) |
