Having collected for many, many (many) years, one of the things that's the most fun to me is to see something I haven't seen before. Anybody recognize what these gems are from a 1980 LSI catalog? -- Note: this is not a pop-quiz, I've actually never seen them before and would love any insights.

Looks like weird, early prototype mockups of Mr Spacefire and Mr Subattack

The red LED parts seem to match, but obviously went through some design changes...
The first game in the book literally translates to Cosmo Wars, and the other one is Sonar Scope. Sounds like a space game and a submarine game to me.
Both were released in the US and other countries under different names as well... |

Thanks Rik! I was thinking that the one on the right looked like Torpedo Shoot / Mr SubAttack -- particularly the little scope thing at bottom center of display. I suppose, like many toy fair catalogs, the listings included both actual and aspirational / unfinished.
Also, having the controls positioned as pictured would've been kind of obnoxious. At least the Rosy games that did this had some heft to them -- and less likely to be accidentally thrown during gameplay. |
