|

This is my ranking of the VFD Donkey Kong games. What's yours? For the games you've played or own.
Also are there other VFD Donkey clones I'm missing. I only know about Actronics Wanted G-man (if you have it, what are your thoughts on it).
My ranking goes as:
1. Tomy Kingman
2. CGL Super Kong/Gakken Crazy Kong
3. Bandai Draculahjoh/Bandai Vampire
4. Coleco Donkey Kong

Coleco Donkey Kong is #1 !!!!!
... 'cause it's the only one I've ever played.

There are a lot of good things about the Coleco Donkey Kong. The big one is the Nostalgia alone. The graphics and sounds are great. Love the box and form factor of the game.
However, the gameplay is clunky in my opinion. The 2 levels bland with the horrible dying off the side. The running jumps need to be spot on to get (press of stick and jump need to be at exactly the same time)...making level 2 painful in an unchallenging way.
It's just my opinion of course and no bad intentions to those who love it. I'd have to put this pretty distant from my 3rd place Draculajoh. That game has a lot going for it.
I'm pretty curious if Coleco Donkey Kong will top Actronics Wanted G-man. Those rarely pop up, so it'll probably be awhile before I know the answer to that. |

I prefer Crazy Kong, its an official licensed Crazy Kong and Gakken kept the best VFD conversion foe themselves, they did a mediocre job for Coleco. _________________ Making the book on handheld games: www.2kboffun.com |

Blanka, I agree that Crazy Kong is a lot of good fun.
Do you happen to have Actronics Wanted G-man? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
Also,do you have any of the other Kong clones? How would you rank them?
It's interesting to compare different perspectives. |

I have to say Kingman (i have the Tandy version) is the best for me.
Super Kong is also pretty good, then the Coleco one, never tried the Dracula Joh... _________________ Keep on playing... no matter what ! |
