I was excited when I saw the title of this game on Ebay as I need one to go with my others with this design case, but even I won't buy it in this condition (and I'm not fussy!).
It looks like it has been buried in a sand dune for several years.

I think it's the fault of the paint that's used on Bandais of that form factor, Crazy Climber, and at least one of the solar LCDs (as I discovered when I recently cleaned one of mine ) I have a couple in that state and am planning on restoring them, one day in the distant future. I still haven't got around to fixing my Wildfire or Jungler... _________________ "If I want to see freaks, I can just look out the window." - Johnny Eck |

I once saw a listing for a handheld console which stated it "looks like someone had eaten their dinner off it" - fer crying out loud, how difficult is it to take a damp kitchen tissue and clean it up? |

Interesting you posted this, as I noticed this the other day and picked it up. I plan on restoring it, actually. You can take the batter cover down and have the paint matched at home depot. After that, you just take it apart and air brush it. We'll see how this one turns out, I'll post pics if I have time.
Don't know about the rest of you, but I like rescuing stuff like this. _________________ Playin' the world, one game at a time... |

I'd be interested to know how you deal with the stencils. My idea was to scan or photograph them, respray the case, then apply adhesive inkjet decals to restore the stencilling. There must be a better way... _________________ "If I want to see freaks, I can just look out the window." - Johnny Eck |

Oh, there is one more thing I've thought of trying spacemonster. I bet you could print a scan of the text onto a thin transparency (reversed), and the apply it to the new paint job, and touch up around the edges of the film with a brush and paint, similar to how you would 'hide' the edges of a decal building a model. If you printed it reversed, the ink would be underneath the film. I bet it would look pretty good. _________________ Playin' the world, one game at a time... |

I cant beleive it sold for $29!!!!!!!! I think the condition of the game make it less desriable. But I dont know if its rare or something..... _________________ Emulators are for the non collectors |

Cool! And let us know how getting the controls working on the Cosmic Invaders goes, too! Hopefully just a cleaning! |

Yeah, I'm guessing the rubber pads under the joystick have deteriorated with age. Worse-case, I have another one already that the display is finicky on, so between them I should have a working one.
I wanted the box more than anything...
