Hi, I have an MB Microvision which I have withdrawn for sale from ebay - the display appears to have failed whilst I was trying to take photos for an interested buyer. I am a newbie but believe this is a common problem? Game beeps and sounds like it is working - display blank. Have tried different carts - batteries and the adjustment on the back. Can you fix them? If not, does the box/instructions/case etc all of which are in mint, absolutely as new condition have any value for spares repairs or to improve somebody's tatty box but working unit ? Thanks for any help. |

Hi Al nice to talk to you here in the Forum! Yes that was a common problem with the lcd display of the Microvision System. But Rik our mentor and boss here will easily explain the problem.Anyway not much value in the box or the rest. It's a very common system to find and there isn't a whole lot you can do for a rotten display.
Hey guys you better take a look here to who our new friend is !!

In my office the main comment was, sorry Al to say it:
"this guy has BALLS!!!!!"
Well I'm just like those teenagers that commented the article, just a little bit older! I was just asking my self and my other collegues what you ment when you said "and various other conflicts".What ,where ,who???
Anyway we should all thank you ,beside rethorics, for everything you did in your professional carrier!! Her in Italy we say HONOR TO THE MERIT!!

Hmm, that's actually kind of odd for a Microvision screen to just go out while you are using it... And then to stay blank. The problem is usually that the screen turns dark, and over a period of time... Did it just blink out suddenly? The dial on the back definitely makes a difference (it controls the darkness of the LCD), and make sure you try new batteries (even if you hear sound, there might not be enough power to make the screen work). Maybe something just tweaked wrong and broke it... It is kind of a delicate game...
The LCDs were very poorly made back in 1979 or so. Heat and humidity destroy them over time, so anyone that kept them in a garage or attic usually ends up with a non-functioning game. But the screen is always black, turning black or oddly discolored...
It is a fairly common game, so a box/instructions/broken game might not be worth too much, but if it's in REALLY nice condition (which it looks like it is), it might not hurt to try to sell it anyway... Especially the UK and other foreign (to US) versions, they aren't as easy to find...
Heck, I need a nice looking UK one myself. I'd go after it even broken...
(Ahh.... I see you have re-listed it... I have it book-marked. )

Hey, thanks for the replies. (Even the slightly embarrasing links on the first one!) All I know is that the unit was working, as I tested the other cartridges I have. I then tried again to take a photo of the display for an enquiry and whilst looking at the camera to see if the picture was in focus it must have failed as when I looked back it was blank! Have invested in new batteries, cleaned the contacts, tried the other carts etc. This like the other games I am selling was put away by a relative and forgotten about - discovered by accident on clearing their house. It's pretty clean although there is a slight brown mark inside one of the red fuzzy wells on the right. Having read the net extensively I can announce that it is a UK model with the two battery compartment. A little knowledge..... |

Isnt the fact that MB HASNT remade the microvision a bit wasteful? |
