That's the railing of my mezzanine level. So I can look up to my collection from my lounge areaj which is pretty cool.

And ,if I may,beautifull modern house.I see you like modern art as ther are several books and in the background you can see that BEAUTIFULL orange lamp of the seventies!!

Thanks Tanatron! You've also picked up on my other collecting habit, which is for 60s/70s space age design. The lamp is indeed from the early seventies, is Italian, and is also a radio! And if you liked that, how about these:

It's a Radio lampada Europhon design Adriano Rampolli 1970 .
I LOVE modern art and especially industrial design!!!It's one of those things that makes you proud to be italian!!!
The first light sculpture is FANTASTIC!!! I mean FANTASTIC!!!If I could ever find one I 'll go for it without a doubt !!FANTASTIC!!!I have saved your pictures 'cause I want to know who's the designer!!Sorry again but FANTASTIC!!

Well thanks again...! I loved the sculpture too the minute I saw it - it reminds me of the sort of thing you'd see as alien spaceship decor in an episode of Space 1999!

All I know was that it was made for an Italian design firm, PoliArt by Akikaze, in the late sixties or early seventies. I spent a number of hours going through old issues of Domus trying to find reference to the designer - but with no joy. I would love to know more about this guy too so if you find anything I'd love to know!

The glass is murano and it also has a dimmer control on the side!

Yes the Italian's really did have some fantastic designers back in the seventies. Giotto Stoppino and Joe Colombo are two of my favourites.

I like that light sculpture a lot. The shape of it could be applied to be very interesting architecture. It would be great to have some kind of apartment/retail/whatever complex shaped like that. It would be fun to explore in there and look out windows.

Gimme, gimme, gimme!!!!! That looks like a movie prop out of a 70's (hell, any year really) Sci-Fi movie.

If you ever learn more about it, post it here (or maybe in the off-topic section), I'd love to hear about it.

I like the robot collection. I have that little gray one that's a complete rip-off of VINCENT from the Black Hole... (CGL George).

Glad you all like the light sculpture! I think I paid more for it than my entire handheld collection!!! Shocked

It also reminds me of a futuristic city or a low resolution explosion rendered in pixels.

Hiparco, that's an Onko Super Space Jack between the other two... It's in the museum somewhere Wink

Yeah, i'm still collecting those retro robots - a 2-XL is my next target! I think it deserves a place in the museum actually, as the robot shaped 8 track tape player had a couple of flashing lights for eyes Wink

and you could play games with it. I had one as a kid actually, though it got thrown out along other toys which i've since bought back! It's certainly got a cool eighties robot aesthetic to it...

Oooo, there was just a Space Jack on Ebay (ended today for like $5 or something). Neat little game in appearance at least (looks like a deformed Star Trek Enterprise).

You need a Heathkit Hero-1 robot for your collection! I always wanted one as a kid, but since it was considered a 'real' robot (for the day), it was in the $100's thus it wasn't deemed a toy...
