this game sucks. gameplay and all. i'm not kidding... does anyone really like this game? Sad

i couldn't take a pic of the high score because when the game's over, it disappears quickly. Evil or Very Mad

anyway, my high score is 1,920 in Game "B"

screen cap below. doesn't mean anything. but to show you i own the game.

I'm sorry to hear this game doesn't play well. I've been looking out for a reasonably priced one to complete the set for years.

I've played it a couple of times and remember enjoying it... I loved that they got the theme song at the beginning.

I'll have to break it out and play it some more and see what I really think of it...

not to insult the true arcade version of Dig Dug, but this tabletop doesn't have the fun factor as in the arcade.

when you start the game - unlike the arcade, there are no "pre" tunnels - so it is a "claustrophobic" kind of feeling... immediately from the start, all the Pookas are squirming through dirt and coming to get you - which leaves you no room to turn - you can't even "pump" (actually it's "fire", as stated inside the manual) into the dirt where the Pookas are buried.... so what i did was - at the start of every level, i had to dig around like hell to create tunnels so i can "pump" at the damned Pookas.

and the worst part - you can't tell which Pooka, who acts like a Fygar wannabe, shoots fire at me.... grrr. Mad

i can understand the simplicity of the tabletop version based on an arcade game of the same name - but this one lacks the gameplay.... probably a rush job into production. sorry to those who have high expectations to buy this game, please remember - this is a review from my own thoughts.... Neutral

Neil UK - if i plan to sell my other copy of Gakken Dig Dug, would you be interested? box, styrofoam, manual, battery cover are included. PM me if you like...

i know it's silly to own 2 of the same games... but why not? Smile

EDIT: i played the Game B version which is harder than Game A - i haven't played Game A so maybe it is easier and more "suitable" fun factor... i guess i spoke too soon before posting a review.. whoops. Embarassed

OKAY, SO I JUST GOT A NEW HIGH SCORE OF 2925 ON THIS GAME. IT IS POSSIBLE TO CAPTURE THE SCORE IN A PICTURE. ONCE YOU FINISH PLAYING, YOU CAN RE-START A NEW GAME AND DIE ON PURPOSE. THE CURRENT HIGH SCORE WILL BRIEFLY BE DISPLAYED ON SCREEN ALONG WITH THE HARDER "B"LEVEL NEXT TO IT. I TOOK A QUICK VIDEO AND SAVED THE SCREEN SHOT OF THE SCORE. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!....billy

First I thought the game was totally impossible. Until I discovered I can throw flames up and down too. Anyway, Zackman remains the better Dig Dug handheld.

I was lucky to get one of these complete recently for a reasonable price. I know there is a lot missing from the arcade... But I have to admit, I really like this version. The gameplay is tough, but fun and fair. I dig the beeps. I also like the screen colors and characters. The flip open form factor is also pretty neat.

My high score right now on difficulty B is: 5430
