Frisky Tom, Change Man, Mole Patrol, and Packri Monster are all different games with the same form factor. Are there any others with this form factor that I'm missing?
Also, which is a form factor you like the most that has multiple different games for it? |

You forgot Mattel Star Hawk.
The one with the most VFD games in the same shape is the late Gakken series, guess it has 8 games.
Series I like best are Gakken and Bandai Fliptops, _________________ Making the book on handheld games: www.2kboffun.com |

Thanks! I will have to look for a copy of Star Hawk to complete my set.
I recently purchased a Bandai Crazy Climber VFD. I kind of dig this form factor. The slant is pretty cool. These aren't exactly the same, but with a similar concept. The Block - Bandai. And Mattel Gravity. Can you think of any others that would fall in this category? |

Well, you guys are certainly more familiar with all the handhelds. Me? First thing that popped into my head is the generic familiarity with Coleco handhelds: DK, Pac, Frogger, etc.
I do have a Gravity though! Crazy Climber looks nifty.
That said, I would appreciate having a Tomy Lupin for gameplay as well as sitting beside my Caveman. That would be neat. Not sure if there were other variations of that 'cab'.
... and I would like a few more Tomytronic 3D's! I only have Thundering Turbo. |

I recently picked up a Mattel Star Hawk. I wasn't sure what to expect when I got it, as there really isn't much information about it here. Turns out to be a pretty impressive VFD game for 1981. I guess you could call it a Hidden Gem of the handheld gaming scene. This would have been a prized possession for me as a kid, and I would have really played this a lot. I like flight sim games, and Star Hawk is an arcade flight sim. It's certainly different than some of the other VFD games out there. It's interesting for me to discover this game 37 years later. I don't understand why I never knew about it or came across one. I played a bunch of the LED Mattel games we had Football, Basketball, and Baseball. How did this fly under the radar? |

Yeah,
I really had no idea about Star Hawk as well. It will go nicely in my collection. I also recently got lucky and found one complete in box, close to mint, for a fair price. Perfect timing It's actually being sent to me now. I look forward to playing it. If I can track down Changeman in Japan, which is fairly easy. I will complete the set. I want to play through them all at one time. A beer and a free weekend! |

Star Hawk is indeed a gem play wise, but it's also way superior quality wise, to those bandai games! It was really built to last! _________________ Keep on playing... no matter what ! |
