My dad has the Renault Scenic, and it has a huge VFD tube. I found this article about it:

Yeah, you can find some large ones in cars. I used to have a giant speedometer display from some kind of car... Could power it up and connect it to a drill and make it max out at 199 mph... A speed I doubt the car it was in could ever achieve. Mr. Green

Repair of instrument panel Renault SCENIC II. A common problem when the clock is reset, the panel stops showing, or does not work at all. If panel repair is not possible because the displays are damaged it is possible to remove the odometer memory from the panel and solder it to a new panel.

Nameplate.

The printed circuit board is accessible after removing the cover glass and frame.

Desoldering VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display).

Defective input fuse.

6.5A input fuse replacement.

Soldering the choke.

Checking Solder Joints ... The 30R resistor has a crack in the solder joint.

Switching transistor IRF3710.

UC2843 Source Control Circuit Replacement in SO8 Housing.

Changing 6.8uF Tantalum Input Capacitors.

Changing resistors 1ohm.

Replacement of 100uF / 50V Filter Capacitors.

Replacement of 100uF / 50V Filter Capacitors.

The dashboard, if not damaged displays will be functional again.
