Greetings all!
Linda has secured my services for the production of a Coleco paper model, but with a twist. She wants it as a desktop calendar!
And what did Linda ask for? A paper model based on the Coleco Omega Race prototype. Here's the progess so far...

I have the Coleco '82 catalog that shows this game... Let me scan the page and I'll put that and the pics I have of the Star Trek game online for you. It's a MUCH clearer image of the game... |

Rik,
You da man! I've been going off a lo-res version of that '82 catalog page for ages.
I made a few stylistic changes because I thought they would reflect the actual arcade cabinet. Plus, how did Coleco expect anyone to play this game head-to-head... honestly? The controls looked so small and compressed on that panel. I may make an alternate version that looks more like the catalog page, but that's dependant on finding good, close-up images of the cabinet artwork. I already have a few posts on other arcade forums, plus I e-mailed a guy on eBay who's selling an Omega Race cabinet in Illinois. If I have to, I'll drive out to IL and take the pictures myself.
Cheers!

I don't think they ever got as far as play-testing...
I've updated the website images, and I've placed even high-resolution images here:
http://www.handheldmuseum.com/_Temp/
The first 2 are Berzerk and Omega Race. They are still .JPG'd to make them managable... If you want the .BMPs right from the scanner, let me know (about 20 MB each Zipped...) At least you can see and read everything now.
Also, there's some arcade images on KLOV if you haven't seen them already:
http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=O&game_id=8920
Not very high-res, but if you haven't seen them, they might help...
If there's a way to see inside the game, you should print out this:
http://www.madocowain.com/Arcade/OmegaRace/omega_acid_overview_1_2.jpg
and stick it on the inside. |

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure they were just painted-up Pac Man shells or something with printed artwork stuck on them... Typical 'advance' display piece probably actually on display at Toy Fair that year...
I like the Alien Attack inspired VFD you created... I bet Berzerk would be very much like the Pac Man (or Ms.) VFD with a few inhancements.
I just realized I forgot to upload the Star Trek pics, I'm uploading those now... The first one (#2) is a top-pic with the clear dome in place, the last one is almost the same pic with the dome removed. The others are slightly different angles (6 total). I didn't have a straight-on side shot of it, if you think you need one let me know. It's always on display in my room, so I can easily take more pictures...
Here's a good image of the game art (in case you haven't been all over my site... ) :
