The joystick looks kind of funny. Looks like it's made of plastic, not metal.
What is up with Entex joysticks? On the boxes, they look like they're made of white plastic with a knob on the end, but they're always just a metal stick. |

The prototypes were made with the knob-type joystick, but somewhere in the production process they opted for the straight one. All Entex joysticks are white plastic (like the AV on eBay now), but they were also originally made with a metal (aluminum) sleeve over the joystick to make it look metal. These sleeves were just barely glued on, and frequently fell off and were lost. Thus you see Entex games without them a lot...
This would affect:
Adventure Vision
Crazy Climber
Spiders
Stargate
Super Cobra
I think Turtles is the only joystick game that didn't have the metal sleeves.

Yeah, that's pretty damn cool... I'm really going to be curious to see what it sells for... I'll bid on it, but probably not enough to win it.

All I can think is it's the wrong picture. Video monitors don't need channel knobs (i.e. a tuner), for starters. |

Pong, the original arcade game, used a consumer TV as the monitor (it was pretty much hacked together by the Atari crew... I think the coin box was a large soup can or something).
I'm sure Pong die-hards could verify if the model number is correct or not, but being a consumer TV, I don't think there's any was of proving this exact one really came out of a Pong game. The whole game itself, in any condition, would be worth far more than just the TV, I'm not sure why they would pull it apart...
Rik
Edit- Actually, now that I think about, the pattern of the score burn-in is probably different on the arcade from a home Pong unit, so that might validate it's claim as coming from the original arcade machine... |
