Really nice boxed Adventurevision:

It'll be fun to see what this sells for. I think this is one of the nicest looking machines I've seen in a while. All the printing on the sticker around controls looks intact (this frequently gets worn off from play...), and it works! That's always a plus...

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see the price range. From nice condition boxed, to non-working and very worn... That's probably close to the worse condition AV I've seen sold... |

ooh the one with the dud leds on the screen. I've been stalking that one. Always wanted to take one of 'em to bits. Just polishing the lenses on my sniper rifle. |

You get it then? Don't destroy it though! Nice that it comes with the battery and expansion port covers... Those tend to get lost.
Most likely an easy fix though... I probably should have gone for it. Every AV I've had with line problems (3 I think) has always been fixable by re-soldering all the connections between the LEDs and the main board... These things just weren't built well...
If lines aren't working, but the system works, it'd just a connection problem somewhere. I suppose the LEDs could be damaged, but I've never had one with bad LEDs yet...

every second LED made me suspect a stuck bit in what ever it uses as a shift register but yeh I'll be checking all the wiring before I start replacing chips. Sounds like an easy fix.
So do you think i over payed or did i get a deal? |

Did you confirm it's every other line? That could be a bad logic, or even a bad connection from one of the chips still... Some AVs have all the chips socketed (some don't), see if you get lucky.
I don't think you overpaid, especially if you can get it working. I've seen 'might be working' ones with no battery cover or cartridge sell for $400, so with the cart and all covers, that's a pretty good deal. And, it can most likely be fixed, so that'll nearly double it's value if you can do that. Definitely worth the risk of buying it! I wouldn't have hesitated at paying $450-500 for it.

I probably would've made the price go up if I didn't already have a boxed, working Adventure Vision that I got for under $250 (just pointed that out ), so I don't think you overpaid, especially if you get it to work. It might not even be broken; it's hard to tell when AVs aren't really working, as opposed to just misbehaving. |

All right, you keep bragging about that $250 one, and I'm going to start bragging about the one a friend gave me for free! He had two that didn't work, and in exchange for fixing one, he let me keep the other (which I also fixed). (And he knows what they are worth...)
Of course, I spent a lot for my boxed one, so we won't talk about that...

That's a good friend...but being given one by someone who knows their value isn't quite the same. The thrill of the chase is a big part of it. |

Were Adventure Visions a US release only? That's the only place I have ever seen them for sale. |
